The Moving Adventure: Completed (Question Mark)

What. An. Effing. Weekend.

Let's begin at the beginning where I didn't eat anything more than a baked good with caffiene for 3 days and slept about 3 hours per night. I also watched the entire Firefly series (since it's only 14 episodes, that wasn't hard) and had a total of 7 breakdowns.

Friday: Elizabeth comes over with the Big Ass Van, which wasn't as big-assed as I had anticipated. PLUS everyone had to leave earlier than expected. I almost killed Lee (forgetting he was allergic to cats) and Norha (the leasing agent at Twin) wouldn't let me pick up my keys before 2:30. (and almost didn't let me move in). John, Zac, Lee, and Elizabeth and I worked all of our strong muscles and got the TV, the mattresses, Andrew's desk, my bookshelf and bureau over. My back did not thank me for sleeping on the floor that night, but I thanked all of them profusely (I hope).

Saturday: I woke up really early (before my 6:30 alarm) and packed what I could. Arranged boxes and bags in groups according to their assignment (Living Room A, Bedroom C, etc). I walked to Einstein at about 8:30 to get the bagels for my peeps. Dad and Brendan called while I was on my way back to Slummit to say they were early... as usual.

After that the rest of the day went SURPRISINGLY smoothly thanks to Amy, Regan, Melissa, Meghan, Megan, Matt, Alie, John, Dad, and Brendan.

Although we lost a couple more people due to unforseen events, I also happened to underestimate all of the cars abilities to hold lots of objects. I also didn't reserve the freight elevator, but it HAPPENED to be free until 12. So we got all of the really important stuff in by then. After that it was stairs or regular elevator. Also there was no way to reserve parking, so it was luck and a well-organized rotation that kept us near the loading door. At about 1:30 with about a van-load left at Slummit and a furnished living area at Hotel Twin, I ordered pizza and we watched Serenity (thanks to my dad and brother, who happen to obsess over the same things I do). No one complained about the choice of movie, which I appreciated.

I spent the night on the couch in my new apartment on Saturday night because I hadn't put together my bed yet. I also got creative with my dinner made from left-overs from the old apartment. I baked Pillsbury croissants with goat cheese and chives in half and nutella in the other half. Oh. My. God. It was so good I made it again.

And Andrew sent me a pink bouquet which I almost didn't get because the front desk was calling my room phone... not my cell phone which was clearly printed on the address card. They're so smart I feel safe.

Sunday: I built my bed... upside down the first time... but re-built it correctly. Walked to Whole Foods for some over-priced but nice groceries. Slugged that back on my back, though the walk is not bad at all. Unpacked until my brother arrived to get that last load of stuff from Slummit and shop at Target. He also helped me put my stuff together like my furniture and shelves. He was really tired by the end of the day, so he went home before I could buy him ice cream. We did manage to have an adventure, though, when we decided we wanted Taco Bell.

I spent the night in my bed. The cat tried to kill the bird. The bird tried to kill the cat.

Monday: I did what I could unpacking-wise. Had a dentist appointment, the first in 2 years, and was pleasantly surprised that I only have one minor cavity. One. In two years. This is me who usually has a bunch of cavities! So that was a good feeling. Tried to go change my address, but the Post Offices were out of forms. Got some cheaper and more unhealthy stuff from Giant, which was slightly harder to slug back. Rested, recouped, and went to Target for more curtains. I managed to get through 3 seasons of Scrubs this weekend. And I made croissants again for dinner.

Also I looked like a fool and had to ask for maintenance to come up and show me how to make my shower a shower and not a bath. You know how you start it as a bath and pull or push something and it turns on the shower head? Yeah, apparently this was hidden in the faucet, a little tiny thing you pull down. Brilliant. Neither my brother nor I could figure it out. Ha.

It's a frickin huge apartment and I am SOOOO happy to be living there now. Come visit! Pictures once I find my camera charger.

I am so happy that you're happy! Moving sucks. And I am glad that your move went better/turned out brighter than mine. (The one you helped with a year ago AND the one I just made... stupid SLP stupid stupid stupid!)

Those croissants sound fabulous, btw. They are a much better "easy dinner" than the Chef Boyardee I had tonight.
