My New Years Resolution is working!
I made myself a promise that when I went clothes shopping this year I would not dive straight into the blues, grays, and browns. Instead I would look at more and brighter colors.
I am succeeding! For once I am sticking to my NYR with flying colors!! (I could not resist)
It's a lot about a mental state, too. If I'm constantly comfortable in drab, albeit flattering colors, I will remain in a drab and comfortable mindset. For auditions you want to STAND OUT! And in life you want to be cheerful.
(Shut up, I know this blog is very rarely cheery. I attribute most of this to the Seasonal Depression. Thanks.)
Today I wore a shirt that I've been waiting for just the right day to wear it. It's the one Mom got me a Kohls. BRIGHT pink, lacy short sleeves, detail that accentuate's my curves, and yeah, a low bust. It being an 80degree day this seemed appropriate.
It might sound weird that this one shirt has affected my confidence insanely (and I think some of it is the weather), but it's a positive feeling. I've been tentative with the colors, sticking to pastel versions of brighter colors and not wholly committing to the experiment. This shirt proves that I can pull off more than deep blue, and that I will feel better if I stick to this.
Does this mean I will go around looking like a glow-in-the-dark highlighter? Hells Naw. It may mean an appropriate shade of yellow or apple green is in my future, though.
And you gotta love that my resolution pretty much forces me to shop. Oh, oh, oh the torture, the agony, the-hahahahaha
