New Job!

Hello!

I'm not drowning!  Although my first two days were WHIRLWINDS of information, (AND I still haven't learned HALF of my duties!) I'm OK!  I'm happy.  So so so very happy.  I smiled for no reason on the way home today.  Right before some taxicab decided that a pedestrian walkway was his to infiltrate with his car, so I had to flip him the bird.  It's hard to do with just one finger and no wings (haha, Tolmie) sigh.

Because my new job starts at 9am and because I take the metro to Union Station and because that also appears to be the landing place for HALF OF DC AT 9AM I have been witness to something I can only describe as a metropolitan phenomenon: METREXODUS.

METREXODUS is the phenonmenon in which the sardine car you were sitting comfortably in a moment ago discharges about a gazillionty people at your stop, only to be met with a gazillionty more coming from the opposite direction.  These are met with yet another gazillionty people getting off the MARC trains.  Then, ALL OF THESE THREE GAZILLIONTY PEOPLE TRY TO CROSS THE STREET IN THE SAME DIRECTION!  HOW DO THEY DO IT?!?!

I do not know.  All I know is I hate taxicabs.  And metrobuses.  But so far no one person has pissed me off in transit.

In honor of my new job, I'm working my way back through my books based on characters from Shakespeare (shelf #4).  I just finished Ophelia by Lisa Klein for the second time, and I am still rather impressed with it as a novel.  Very well done, and one of my favorites.  I'm on Grace Tiffany now, and then back to some of the more adult versions before allowing myself the fluff fantasy trilogy.  Yay!

Also, PUNCH is a hootinanny so far!  This is such a physically able and comedically perfect cast!  I think this is going to be awesome!  Don't forget to come out and get drunk and watch them fling fists at each other!  www.dogandponydc.com
