Feelin the need...

To post.

This has been the single most dreadful, awful, horrible, terrible, heinous week I've yet suffered since leaving STC. BIRTHDAY WEEK

We all know THE BIRTHDAY is the single most busy time for me (running an event which spans only 4 hours, but 3000 guests and utilizes over 100 volunteers and staff members all over the Folger is a little daunting!) but this week events went over the top to drive me nuts:

1) a new receptionist has been transferring just anyone to me all week. Not the time to give me random calls, friend.

2) IT'S GOING TO RAIN. Which means making double the plans, double the diagrams, and double the tears.

3) I had to deal with the DC Government today. Their Special Events Specialist (title unknown, really) is the sweetest most lovely person ever. The people in the cubicles near her in Tax and Revenue? Fuckwads. Oh, I'm sorry, pardon ma francais. But truth. I don't like going to them to ask for their stupid signature on something I don't want to do anyway, but I hafta because of their stupid rules. Don't talk to me like I'm 3 and then complain about me IN FRONT OF ME and then SHUSH ME. Uh uh. I will slap you with my broken umbrella right on your face mole. That hairy ugly finger-print sized thing on your jaw. TARGET AQUIRED PEWPEW!

4) IT'S RAINING TODAY. Ugggggh.

5) Docents can't take care of themselves. I'm their caregiver. I cannot be a mother to them this week and yet... how would they function with no one to blame for their misunderstandings?

6) Everyone who's doing a program with us in the next 3 months chose TODAY to email or call me. (Maybe I'm exaggerating. You decide).

7) No one in the main building tells me anything. Le whine.

But then... my boss goes and gets me flowers on his lunch break to thank me for putting up with it all. It actually made it worth it. I am appreciated! I love my boss (oh, I am tearing up... STOP!)

And it could always be worse. I could have a horrible disease or be a real teacher with a violent unruly child forced upon my classroom. Or I could be without a wonderful boss or friends. Truth.

Time for wine, cat cuddling, and Dr. Who on my Instant Netflix Wii-wonder!
