Hi... It's a New Year

HOW DO I NEVER POST?!?!

Ok, so, sorry and all that jazz. No, you know what? I'm NOT sorry! I have a life beyond the interwebs! I DO!

So. What’s new with me? WELL!

For Christmas I received 4 seasons of 3rd Rock from the Sun, easily one of my favorite shows next to Scrubs. And now we have finished watching 4 seasons of 3rd Rock. 5 and 6 are on order from Border.com, but it’s kinda a relief to be done for awhile. I mean, we didn’t even watch any of the awesome movies we got for Christmas! (Tropic Thunder, Dark Knight, Wall-E, Iron Man, Prince Caspian)

However, my excuse is that I’m using Harry, Sally, Vickie Dubcek, and Mary (a little) as research for my characters in Inspector General. Kathleen said it was ok to steal bits and things from anything we wanted, so I am! Although she thought my first character was outta the Coen Bros. That’s ok. She said it reminded her of Frances McDormand and there are MUCH worse people to be compared to!

Oh, and it’s official: I’m Manhood til the day I leave DC. I think it’s kinda cool. It’s a surprising nickname that you wouldn’t expect to hear on little ol’ me, so it makes me just a bit more memorable. If you don’t 'member me already…

Leagues are coming up. Signed up for that and now I have to change dates cos of work again. Great. Damn 9 to 5.

My parents liked Christmas this year, I think! That’s an improvement. Also, I’ve decided that we’re having a super-small, not a lot of planning necessary, CLOSE friends and family ONLY Wedding. I had to sit through about an hour of discussion at Christmas dinner about wedding planning, and I have friends in the midst of planning, and even with a ring on my lefty I do not like the idea of sifting through calligraphy fonts and stressing about how many roses there are! I’m still going to get a nice dress, and my ‘maids will have great cute dresses too (there may still only be the two… it’s so HARD) but we’re not having a 400-person wedding followed by a catered reception! We’re having a small affair with a cozy reception followed by an anniversary party the likes of which have never been seen! Unless you watched “My Super-Sweet 16” because then you’ll have ideas too grandiose for anything I’m planning…

Geraniums in bloom in my window. Homemade Caramel Latte on my desk (because Andrew got an Espresso Machine for Christmas!!).

On a note related to rehearsals for Inspector, I HATE WMATA!!! Time and Again they fail me! New Year’s Day I spent 45 minutes waiting for a bus that apparently doesn’t run on holidays (no sign?) and the bus the website told me to take instead ended up not having the stop it told me to get off at and I had to ride the WHOLE circuit (tour of Arlington, Shirlington, and Crystal City) ending up 30 minutes late for rehearsal. THEN the next night, as I waited for the bus to pick me up after being released early – the Bus friggin DROVE BY ME! I was in light, right under the bus stop sign, and he drove by! Ass. So then I waited for the next one in the middle of the road waving my iPhone. It worked anyway. I got home. I hate WMATA Buses and Virginia. There.

Similarly, I await Inauguration Day for both Good and Bad Reasons!
1. New President! Not an embarrassment! GOOOD!
2. Our rehearsals move to CUA, which is 3 metro stops from my apartment. Bad Caitlin.
3. No Work for 4 days in a row: Weekend, MLKJ Day, Inauguration!!! Bad Caitlin.
4. New Totally Awesome President! YAY! Good!

Smile. It makes the Rain Stop. <3

I've heard so many people give the exact same complaints about wmata. They do, indeed, suck.

Good for you for having a small wedding! Nick and I didn't have much of a choice, having really huge families and most of them living here. Had I chosen only the first cousins I was close to, the other 20 of them and their spouses would have made a huge ruckus.

I suppose we could have, but we were too scared to try with all the family pressure :p
